# Languages

Two shop-wide choices: the language customers read on receipts, and the language of the staff screens. Each person can also pick their own screen language.

The two shop-wide choices are independent: English screens with Spanish receipts is a perfectly normal combination.

Where to find it: MANAGE › Settings › Localization.

## Before you start

- Changing the app language needs the permission to edit company settings; the customer language needs the permission to edit sale settings.

## Steps

1. Open [MANAGE › Settings › Localization](https://app.zeropos.shop/backoffice/settings/localization).
2. Under **Customer language**, pick what customers read: printed and emailed receipts, and your public booking and deal pages.
3. Under **App language**, pick the **Staff language**: the default for everyone's screens.
4. Tap **Save**.
5. To pick your own screen language instead, tap your initials, then **My profile**, and choose under **My language**.

## What happens next

- Receipts printed or emailed from now on use the new customer language, whatever language the seller's screens are in.
- Everyone on **Follow the shop's language** sees the new staff language; people who chose their own keep it.
- Emails to staff — the daily report, the low stock alert, the payroll email, a password reset or an invitation — and alerts in the app and on phones reach each person in their screen language: their own choice, or else the **Staff language**.
- Sales already made keep what was printed at the time.

## Common questions

### Which languages are there?

English (UK), English (US) and Español.

### The currency is on this screen too. Does changing it convert my prices?

No. **Default currency** changes the symbol every amount is shown with, older ones included; no amount is converted. See [Company info: name, time zone and tax](https://zeropos.shop/help/company-info).

## If you see this

- “**You can view the customer language but not change it — that needs the sale-settings edit permission.**” — What to do: Ask the owner to change it, or to give you that permission.
- “**Could not save. Try again.**” — What to do: Check the connection and tap **Save** again.

## Good to know

- Your choice in **My profile** changes your screens, your alerts and the emails Zero POS sends you, nothing else: receipts and customer emails always follow the shop's **Customer language**.
