# Prepare a deal for one customer

Put together a star product and gifts at a special price for one named customer, with a printed voucher and a page of their own. It becomes a sale when they come in.

A deal is a promise to one customer: this product, these gifts, this price, until this date. Saving it is not a sale; nothing moves until you convert it at the till.

For one person. To email an offer to many customers at once, use [Send an offer to your customers](https://zeropos.shop/help/send-an-offer).

Where to find it: Quick actions › New deal; BACKOFFICE › Marketing › Deals.

## Steps

### Prepare the deal

1. Open [Quick actions › New deal](https://app.zeropos.shop/pos/custom-deals).
2. Pick the customer, or add a new one with a name and an email. A deal always belongs to a customer.
   - The same customer details are required as at checkout.
3. Choose the **Star product**, then add any **Complimentary gifts**.
4. Type the **Offer price** and the **Regular price** to compare it with. The saving shows underneath.
5. Pick when it **Expires**: a day, a week, two weeks, a month, or a date of your own.
6. Add an **Internal note** if useful. Customers never see it.
7. Tap **Save & print** to print the voucher with its QR code, or **Save only**.
   - The voucher prints in the shop's **Customer language** ([Languages](https://zeropos.shop/help/languages)), whatever language your screen is in. Its **Headline** and **Voucher tagline** are the shop's own words, set in [MANAGE › Settings › Deal page & vouchers](https://app.zeropos.shop/backoffice/settings/custom-deals); until the shop writes them, ready-made words in that same language.

### When the customer comes in

8. Open the deal from [BACKOFFICE › Marketing › Deals](https://app.zeropos.shop/backoffice/custom-deals). Search by customer, product or deal number.
9. Tap **Convert to sale**. The till opens with the products and a ticket discount that makes the total match the offer.
10. Take the payment and tap **Create Sale**.

> Who can do this: Converting and cancelling deals are separate permissions; by default managers and owners hold them, and sellers prepare deals.

## What happens next

- Saving a deal takes no money and moves no stock.
- The QR code opens the customer's own page, counting down to the expiry. When they tap a button on it, the deal shows **Engaged** and the tap joins its **Interest timeline**.
- Converting records an ordinary sale: stock, takings and commission. The deal is marked converted and links to it with **View invoice**.
- A deal nobody converts turns **Expired** on its date. It can still be converted if the customer comes in.

## Deal statuses

**Active**: live and waiting. **Engaged**: the customer tapped a button on their page (WhatsApp, a call, email). **Expired**: past its date. **Converted**: sold. **Cancelled**: withdrawn; its page no longer works.

Use the **Expired** filter to find customers worth another try.

## The customer's page

It shows the star product, the gifts, **Regular price**, **Your exclusive price**, **You save** and the time left.

Its buttons, and the words and picture on it, are set once for the shop in [MANAGE › Settings › Deal page & vouchers](https://app.zeropos.shop/backoffice/settings/custom-deals).

The WhatsApp, email and SMS buttons open the customer's own app with a message already written, asking for the deal, in the shop's **Customer language** ([Languages](https://zeropos.shop/help/languages)).

## Common questions

### What if the offer is below the minimum price?

The builder warns you, but you can still save and print; the warning is for information. At the till, a total below the minimum may need a manager's approval: [Below-minimum approvals](https://zeropos.shop/help/below-minimum-approvals).

### Is a deal the same as an offer email?

No. A deal is for one named customer, printed or shared as its own page. An offer email goes to many customers at once: [Send an offer to your customers](https://zeropos.shop/help/send-an-offer).

### How do I cancel a deal?

Open it and tap **Cancel deal**, then confirm. The public link stops working.

### Can I print the voucher again?

Yes. Open the deal and print it again from **Voucher print**. The deal counts how many times it was printed.

## If you see this

- “**A customer is required. Pick one or add a new customer.**” — What to do: Search for the customer and pick them, or fill in the new customer's details.
- “**Add the customer's email before saving the deal.**” — What to do: Deals need the customer's email. Type it in, or pick the customer's existing file.
- “**Enter both offer and regular price.**” — What to do: Fill in both **Offer price** and **Regular price**.
- “**Expiry must be in the future.**” — What to do: Pick one of the lengths, or a date and time after now.
