# Design the receipt

Choose what the printed and emailed receipt says: the header, a tagline, contact details, a thank-you line, your return policy, a footer and an optional QR code.

A receipt comes from a sale: after the sale, **Print receipt** or **Email receipt**. This screen decides the words around the lines and totals, which always come from the sale itself.

For the wording. To connect a printer, see [Receipt printer setup: Epson, browser or cloud](https://zeropos.shop/help/printer-setup); for small slips such as vouchers and business cards, see [Quick prints](https://zeropos.shop/help/quick-prints).

Where to find it: MANAGE › Settings › Receipt.

## Steps

1. Open [MANAGE › Settings › Receipt](https://app.zeropos.shop/backoffice/settings/receipt).
2. In the **Live preview**, tap the part to change: header, tagline, contact block, thank-you line, return policy or footer.
3. Type the text. Leave **Header line** empty to show your company name instead.
4. For the **Return / refund policy**, start from one of the **Templates** and adjust it.
   - The templates come in your customers' language, the shop's **Customer language**, whatever language your screens are in.
   - Every return policy among them keeps to the shop's rule: a sale paid with a gift card or store credit is final.
5. To print a QR code, switch on **Print QR code on customer slips** and paste the **Destination URL**.
6. Tap **Save**.

## What happens next

- Every receipt printed or emailed from now on uses the new wording; receipts already printed don't change.
- The QR code also prints on refund slips and quick prints, but not on the end-of-day report.
- Receipts are written in the shop's **Customer language**: see [Languages](https://zeropos.shop/help/languages).

## Common questions

### How do I put our logo on the receipt?

The logo is set in **Branding & appearance**, in [MANAGE › Settings › Branding & appearance](https://app.zeropos.shop/backoffice/settings/appearance).

### How do I print a receipt for an old sale?

Open the sale in Invoices and tap **Print receipt**. See [Find an invoice](https://zeropos.shop/help/find-an-invoice).

### What language are the templates in?

Your customers' language ([Languages](https://zeropos.shop/help/languages)). A template saved as it is follows that language on every receipt, printed or emailed, also after you switch language; once you edit its words, the text is yours and prints as you wrote it.

### Why is there no store-credit-only policy?

Nothing is ever refunded as store credit: money goes back by card, cash or transfer, and a sale paid with a gift card or store credit is final. If you saved the old store-credit template, pick one of the **Templates** again or rewrite it.

## If you see this

- “**Enter a valid http(s) URL for the customer QR code.**” — What to do: Paste the whole web address, beginning with https, for example your website or your booking page.

## Good to know

- Keep the return policy short: it prints on every receipt, and on 80 mm paper a long text makes a long slip.
