# Set monthly targets

Give each seller and manager a sales target for the month, with an optional stretch target. They follow their progress on My results; a target pays nothing by itself.

A target is a sales figure for a period, usually a month. The **Targets** list has one row per active seller and manager, with the target running today.

Where to find it: MANAGE › Targets.

## Before you start

- By default the owner, administrators, managers and Human Resources set targets. Removing one is for the owner, administrators and Human Resources.
- The list shows the active sellers and managers in the regions you can see.

## Steps

1. Open [MANAGE › Targets](https://app.zeropos.shop/backoffice/targets).
2. Tap **Set target** on the person's row.
   - If a target is already running, the button is **Edit**.
3. Check the **Label**: it starts as this month's name.
4. Type the amount for **First target**: what they are aiming for.
5. Type a **Second target** as a stretch goal, or leave it at 0.
6. Check **Begin date** and **End date**: they start as this month's first and last day.
7. Tap **Create target**.

## What happens next

- The row shows the target, the **Progress** so far and the **Window**.
- The person sees **My Target** on [INSIGHTS › Dashboards › My results](https://app.zeropos.shop/reports/dashboard/personal), with rings for **First target** and, if set, **Second target** ([The dashboards, day to day](https://zeropos.shop/help/dashboards)).
- **Progress** counts their sales the way their commission does: their share of each sale, without VAT, less refunds, and a layaway as each payment is taken. The first and last days count whole, on the shop's clock.
- A target pays nothing: pay comes from their rate and tiers ([Set someone's pay: hourly rate and commission](https://zeropos.shop/help/set-up-pay)).

## Common questions

### How do I remove a target?

Tap the bin on the row, then **Remove target**. Their dashboard shows no target until you set a new one.

### Can I set next month's target in advance?

The row shows the target running today, and **Edit** changes that one. Set next month's target once the month has started.

### What counts towards a target shared sale?

When a sale is split with **Add seller**, each seller's progress counts only their share.

## If you see this

- “**You don't have permission to do that.**” — What to do: Your role can't make that change, often removing a target. Ask the owner or Human Resources.

## Good to know

- Pair the first target with a normal month and the second with a very good one, so both rings mean something.
