Gift cards & vouchers

Gift card and voucher software for beauty shops

Sell gift cards in the amounts you choose and hand over a printed slip with its own code. Give a treatment as a present with a voucher of its own. Every code is recorded before it prints, so you always know what you still owe.

Gift cards

Sold at the till, spent bit by bit

A gift card holds money: the customer pays for it today, and whoever holds the slip spends it later, all at once or a little at a time, until it runs out or expires.

Taking payment in Zero POS: part by card on the shop’s own terminal, part on a gift card.

Selling one

  1. On New Sale, tap Gift card and pick one of your amounts, or type another.

  2. Add who it’s for if you like, then take the payment as you would for anything else.

  3. Print the slip before you close the window: the code is shown this once, and never again.

Spending one

  • Ring up the sale and choose Gift card as the way to pay.
  • Type the code from the slip: the till shows what the card still holds.
  • Use part of it or all of it, and take anything left with another method.
  • The card keeps its balance for next time, until it runs out or its date passes.

Two different gifts

A card they buy, a treatment you give

Zero POS keeps the two apart, because they are different promises. One is money a customer paid for. The other is a treatment the shop chose to give.

Given, never sold

Treatment voucher

  • Issued from the Treatments area, usually with a purchase, for one treatment.
  • Free, an amount off, a percentage off, or a price to charge.
  • Checked at the counter without using it up, then marked used after the treatment.
  • Its code can be typed on your online booking page, which holds it for that appointment.

Sold at the till

Gift card

  • Sold on New Sale in the amounts you set, paid for like any other line.
  • Spent on what you sell, in as many visits as it takes, with any other method making up the rest.
  • Counts as a sale the day it’s sold, and earns the seller commission then.
  • Spending it later is not a second sale: the card simply pays.

Kept in order

Every code accounted for, every promise in view

Gift cards and vouchers are money and treatments the shop owes. Zero POS records each one first, so nothing is printed that the books don’t know about.

  • Your amounts, your expiry

The owner sets the amounts offered at the till and how long cards last, or that they never expire. An owner or manager can change one card’s date.

  • A lost slip, stopped

Stop a gift card or cancel a voucher when its slip goes missing. Anyone who brings it to the counter afterwards is turned away.

  • Checking never spends

Look up any code to see what it holds or what is left to charge. Nothing is used until someone taps to use it.

  • What you still owe

A report shows what sold cards still hold. Vouchers still waiting to be used are counted as outstanding, at the treatment’s price on the day they printed.

  • Used once, only once

A voucher marked used can’t be used again, even from two tills at the same moment. The list shows when it was used.

  • Codes people can read

Voucher codes skip the letters people misread off paper, and the counter takes them in capitals or not, with or without dashes.

Questions

Asked before signing up

Is selling a gift card counted as revenue?
Yes, on the day it’s sold, and it earns the seller commission like any other sale. When the card is spent later, it pays for the goods and is not counted a second time.
Can a sale paid with a gift card be refunded?
No. A sale paid even partly with a gift card is final: it can’t be refunded, exchanged or cancelled, and nothing goes back onto the card or out in cash.
Can we give a gift card away without selling it?
Yes. Owners and managers can issue a card from the gift cards screen. A card a customer pays for is always sold at the till, so the money lands on the books.
Can a customer use a treatment voucher to book online?
Yes, for treatments that can be booked online. The code goes in on the booking page and is held for that appointment; cancel the appointment and the voucher is free again.
Can a gift card pay for a layaway?
No. A gift card is sold as its own sale, paid in full, and a layaway can’t be paid with one. A gift card can’t be bought with another gift card either.
