The jobs done most at the counter
Six guides worth knowing by heart.
- Selling at the tillMake a saleRing up products, credit the sellers and take payment on New Sale. The sale goes straight into Invoices, with its receipt ready to print or email.
- Invoices & refundsRefund a saleGive money back against a past sale, whole or in part. The refund is saved as a credit note linked to the sale, and the stock can go back on the shelf.
- Your dayClose the dayCount each payment method against what the till expects, then close the shop's day and print its slip. The boxes start at the expected amounts, so type what you really count.
- Selling at the tillGift cardsSell a gift card at the till and hand over a printed slip with its code. The customer spends it later, all at once or bit by bit, until it runs out or expires.
- Selling at the tillLayaway: hold items while a customer pays over timeHold goods for a customer who pays over time: a deposit today, more payments later, each item handed over once enough is paid. The last payment makes it a normal sale.
- Your dayOpening float: open the day and count the cashCount the cash you start with and open the shop's day before the first sale. Until the day is open, sales and check-ins at that shop wait.
