A POS for makeup and perfume stores: testers, gift cards and stock

Zero POS is the point of sale for makeup and perfume stores. Every bottle on the tester shelf was stock once, so it comes off the day it’s opened; gift cards are spent bit by bit, and each shop’s count stays honest.

The tester shelf

Every tester opened is a bottle off stock

A fragrance counter opens testers all year, and each one is a sale it will never make. Record them as you go and the shelf count stays right.

  • Recorded the day it’s opened

Choose Tester, scan the barcode or search the name, and add a note such as “new launch on the counter”. The unit leaves that shop’s stock at once.

  • Broken in the box

A bottle that arrives cracked is marked defective on the same screen, with a note. Nothing is charged and the day’s takings don’t change.

  • What the testers cost you

Testers and write-offs sit in the Stock Movements report beside sales and transfers, so you can see what went on the counter, and why.

Gift cards

The present for someone hard to buy for

The giver picks the amount, the person who receives it picks the scent. A gift card works the same way in Zero POS.

Taking payment: part on the card terminal, the rest from a gift card’s balance.

  • Any amount, its own code

Tap Gift card on the sale, choose an amount or type one, and print the slip. Its code is printed once, with the expiry you set.

  • Spent over several visits

Type the code at payment: the card pays what it holds, another method takes the rest, and what’s left stays on the card.

  • A sale on the day it’s sold

Each card counts as revenue the day it’s sold and earns commission for whoever sold it. A report shows what your shops still owe on cards.

Across your shops

Every shade and size, counted at every shop

Each shade of a foundation and each size of a fragrance is its own product, with its own barcode, price and count at every shop.

A product list’s import preview: what will be added and what updated, before anything is saved.

  • Scan at the till

Add each product’s barcode and switch on barcode scanning: the till gets a Scan button; the tester screen already has one.

  • Counted blind

A stock-take hides what the system expects, so the number typed is what’s on the shelf. The variance report shows what comes up short, count after count.

  • Reorders, split by shop

The reorder list shows what is at or below its minimum at each shop. Tick the rows, and a purchase order opens already filled in.

  • Your catalogue, imported

Bring your product list in from a spreadsheet with a preview first, or send it to us and we import it for you, free during early access.

At a busy counter

A set put aside in November, a queue in December

The weeks before Christmas bring the gift rush. The till keeps up.

A layaway: the ticket total, what has been paid so far and the balance still due.

  • Walk-ins welcome

Allow walk-ins and a lipstick sells without a name. Name the customer when it’s worth it: a receipt by email, points, a history.

  • Two sellers, one sale

Share a sale between the two people who served, evenly, by percentage or by amount. Each one’s commission follows their share.

  • Gift sets on layaway

Put a set aside with a deposit. Any seller in the region takes the next payment, and it’s handed over once it’s paid for.

Questions

What makeup and perfume stores ask first

What does a makeup store need from its point of sale?
Every shade and size as its own product with its own barcode, testers taken off stock the day they’re opened, gift cards spent bit by bit, gift sets on layaway, and a blind count of each store’s stock. Zero POS does each of these.
Which barcode scanners work?
One that types the code like a keyboard, plugged in by USB or paired by Bluetooth, on the tablet, phone or computer the till runs on. Tap Scan, scan, and the product is in the basket.
How is a tester recorded?
Choose Tester, scan or search the product and add a note. The unit leaves that store’s stock at once, and the Stock Movements report shows it beside sales and transfers.
