Sale options: customers, minimum prices and receipts
Decide whether a sale needs a customer and which details, what happens under the minimum price, and what the till shows.
Owners can change what each role may do.
Sale options holds the rules for every single sale. Naming a customer on each one builds a record you can use later (receipts by email, loyalty points, a history per person) but adds a step to every ticket.
Before you start
- By default only owners and administrators can change these rules; managers see the screen read-only.
Steps
- Step 1
- Step 2
Under Customer at the till, choose Every sale names a customer or Walk-ins allowed — a customer is optional.
- Step 3
Switch on the details a customer must have: Email is mandatory, Phone is mandatory, ID is mandatory, Comment is mandatory.
- They apply whenever a customer is added to a sale.
- Step 4
Choose the Below-minimum price policy: Allow, Require manager approval or Block.
- Step 5
Switch on Email receipt on validate, Barcode scanning or Quantity steppers if you want them.
- Step 6
Tap Save.
What happens next
- Sales from now on follow the new rules. Sales already made don't change.
- Tips have a page of their own, Tips, next to this one: whether to ask, what customers can choose and who gets them (Tips: what customers can choose and who gets them).
- With walk-ins allowed, a sale can close with nobody named, but a layaway still needs a customer.
- With Email receipt on validate on, each finished sale emails the receipt to a customer who has an email, unless Sale receipt is switched off in Email templates: the wording of every email.
- With Require manager approval, a ticket under the minimum needs a manager's yes: Below-minimum approvals.
What each option does
Customer at the till: with Every sale names a customer, staff pick or add a customer before a sale can close. With walk-ins allowed, they add one only when it matters.
Below-minimum price policy: what happens when a ticket is under the combined minimum of its lines. Require manager approval needs a manager's phone or PIN before the sale goes through. Allow lets the sale through, but the till still asks for a manager's approval first. Block refuses the sale, even after a manager has approved it. Every sale under the minimum is marked in Invoices.
Barcode scanning adds a Scan button to the till. Quantity steppers add + and − buttons to product cards and cart lines.
