How to run a count with it

  1. Pick a quiet moment and count one area at a time: a shelf, a drawer, the stockroom. Write the area at the top so the sheet makes sense afterwards.
  2. Count what is there without looking at what the system says you should have. People who know the expected number tend to find it.
  3. Write shades and sizes separately — a 30 ml and a 50 ml of the same serum are two products to your stock.
  4. Count opened testers and damaged units in their own columns, not in the count: they can no longer be sold.
  5. Have someone else recount any line that looks wrong before the sheet goes in, then type the counts in while they are fresh.

Small, often, and blind

A whole-shop count once a year finds a year of problems at once. A few shelves every week finds them while someone still remembers why a palette is missing.

Cosmetics are small, valuable and easy to pocket, and testers walk off their stands. Counting by area and keeping testers apart shows which is which.

How Zero POS does this for you

A blind stock-take, on the till you already have

In Zero POS a stock-take hides the system’s figures while you count, so the number typed is what is really on the shelf. Count an area, submit it, and Zero POS compares each count with the stock at that moment.

Validating a count moves each product by its difference and logs it as a stock-take. The variance report, grouped by product, shows which items come up short count after count. Testers are recorded in a few taps, before you count.
