Below-minimum approvals
When a ticket drops under its products' minimum prices, a manager approves it by push or with their PIN at the till. Then the sale goes through.
Owners can change what each role may do.
Every product can carry a minimum price that customers never see. When the ticket goes under the combined minimum of its lines, the till shows Below minimum by in red and the sale button changes to Ask for approval.
Before you start
- Whatever your shop's Below-minimum price policy, the till asks for a manager's approval when the ticket is under the minimum. With Block, the sale is refused even after approval (Sale options: customers, minimum prices and receipts).
- For a push: managers have Zero POS installed and notifications on for their device (Install Zero POS on an iPad, phone or computer).
- For a PIN: the manager has set their Manager PIN in their profile (Your profile).
Steps
Ask from the till
- Step 1
Tap Ask for approval.
- The Approve below-minimum sale window shows the ticket exactly as the manager will see it.
- Step 2
Add a Reason (optional), such as a damaged box; it travels with the request.
- Step 3
With a manager beside you, pick them under Manager, let them type their Manager PIN, and tap Approve.
- Step 4
Otherwise, tap Request approval to notify the managers who can approve and work in this shop's region, with the owner and administrators.
- The till shows Waiting for approval. The first manager to approve unlocks the sale.
- Step 5
When the red note turns green and names the approver, tap Create Sale.
Decide as a manager
- Step 6
Tap the push, or open Quick actions › Pending approvals.
- Step 7
Tap Decide on the request to see the ticket, its minimum and the seller's reason.
- Step 8
Tap Approve, or Deny if the price shouldn't go through.
What happens next
- The invoice records who approved it.
- If the cart changes after the approval, it no longer matches the ticket and the till asks again.
- A request expires ten minutes after it is sent. Send a new one, or use the PIN.

- Owners approve their own below-minimum sales with their PIN like anyone else.
