Receipt printer setup: Epson, browser or cloud
Choose how each shop prints: through the browser, straight to an Epson printer, through a cloud bridge, or not at all. Then send a test print.
Owners can change what each role may do.
Each shop has its own printer mode. What you type on the printer page depends on that mode, so pick it first.
Before you start
- The printer is switched on, loaded with 80 mm paper and on the same network as the shop.
Steps
Choose each shop's mode
- Step 1
- Step 2
Under Global defaults, keep Default paper format on 80mm thermal unless every shop prints on A4, and tap Save defaults.
- Step 3
Under Locations, find the shop and pick its Mode.
- Step 4
Fill in what that mode asks for (below) and tap Save on the shop's row.
Epson ePOS (network)
- Step 5
Connect the Epson printer to the shop's network by cable or Wi-Fi.
- Step 6
Print its self-test (hold the feed button for 5 seconds while switching it on) to find its IP address.
- Step 7
Turn on ePOS-Print in the printer's web page: Show Epson ePOS setup instructions lists every step.
- Step 8
Paste the address into ePOS-Print URL. Switch on Kick cash drawer if a drawer is plugged into the printer.
- Step 9
Tap Save, then Test print.
Cloud bridge (Termux / Pi)
- Step 10
Type the Printer IP, the Port (usually 9100) and a Bridge name.
- Step 11
Tap Generate bridge token and copy it at once: it is shown only once.
- Step 12
Paste the token into the bridge program on the Android phone (Termux) or Raspberry Pi next to the printer, and start it.
- Step 13
Tap Save. The shop's row shows “Live” once the bridge checks in.
- Step 14
Tap Test print.
Browser (macOS / Windows)
- Step 15
Install the receipt printer on the shop's computer like any other printer.
- Step 16
Ring up a sale and tap Print receipt: the computer's print dialog opens.
- Step 17
Choose the receipt printer and an 80 mm roll paper size, with Margins → None and Scale → 100%.
Watch the print queue (cloud bridge)
- Step 18
On the printer page, tap Print queue.
- Step 19
Filter by shop or status. The list refreshes itself every 5 seconds.
- Step 20
Retry a Failed job, or cancel one still Queued.
What happens next
- Receipts from the till print the way that shop's mode says. With No printer, nothing prints there; receipts can still be emailed.
- With Open cash drawer switched on under Global defaults, the drawer opens after each cloud-bridge receipt. Epson shops use their own Kick cash drawer switch.
- Jobs sent through a cloud bridge wait in the Print queue until the bridge prints them.
- The test page prints in the shop's Customer language, like every receipt. The Print queue names each job in the language of whoever is reading it: a receipt or a refund by its number, total and customer.
Which mode to choose
Browser (macOS / Windows): the computer's own print dialog. Simplest to start with, one extra tap per receipt.
Epson ePOS (network): Zero POS sends straight to an Epson TM printer on the network. No dialog, and it can open the cash drawer.
Cloud bridge (Termux / Pi): a small program on a device in the shop fetches the jobs and prints them, so any phone, tablet or computer can print to it.
Questions
We lost the bridge token. What now?
The receipt printed in the other shop. Why?
In Browser mode the receipt stretches over a whole A4 page.
If you see this…
On screen
Never seen, or a red dot next to the bridge
What to do
The bridge isn't running or can't reach the internet. Restart it on its device and check it has this shop's latest token.
On screen
No token yet — generate one before starting the bridge.
What to do
Tap Generate bridge token, copy it, paste it into the bridge, then start it.
On screen
The active 'Print at' shop isn't set to Cloud bridge mode. Switch shops or open Settings → Printer to enable it.
What to do
Choose another shop in the Print at … chip, or set this shop's Mode to Cloud bridge (Termux / Pi).
On screen
The same receipt printed twice
What to do
A job marked Failed may already have printed before the bridge could confirm it. Check the paper before tapping Retry.
Good to know
- Send a Test print (Epson or cloud bridge) each morning before opening: it tells you the printer, the paper and the network are all ready.
